BeyondKrill: What the 2026 GOED Report Confirms About Where Omega-3 Is Headed

The data validates the shift we built our strategy around: one company, two innovation engines — Essential Solutions for today, Next-Generation Solutions for what’s next.

GOED’s 2026 Global EPA & DHA Omega-3 Ingredient Market Report is dense with data, the kind of document built for spreadsheets more than for reading straight through. But underneath the tables, it tells a fairly simple story, and it’s one worth sitting with rather than skimming past.

Start with concentrates. They now capture 40.5% of global omega-3 value from just 21.5% of volume — the clearest evidence yet that the market will pay a real premium for potency over bulk. That alone would be a familiar story: efficiency wins, as it usually does in a maturing ingredient category. What makes this year’s report more interesting is what happened alongside it.

Krill oil posted the fastest growth of any omega-3 source in 2025 — up 15.1% in global volume, with demand in China surging 53% in a single year. Krill didn’t earn that growth on dose. At roughly 176mg of combined EPA+DHA per serving, it’s modest by concentrate standards. It earned it on a delivery story: phospholipid-bonded omega-3s, positioned around absorption rather than quantity. That’s the more important data point in the entire report. The market has now shown, twice over and through two very different mechanisms, that it will pay for how an omega-3 is delivered, not just for how much of it there is.

GOED’s own analysis doesn’t stop at the growth headline, and neither should we. The report is candid about where krill’s story runs into its limits, and it’s worth reading in the industry’s own words rather than ours.

The Industry Is Reaching the Same Conclusion

“Krill oil’s value proposition is different than other omega-3 oils,” GOED writes, but its comparatively low EPA+DHA concentration leaves it exposed to substitution by traditional fish oils among consumers chasing higher intake targets.

Independent validation that the next opportunity lies beyond a fixed, naturally-bound phospholipid system.

None of that erases what krill proved, and it’s not the only caveat GOED raises. The report also points to rising public unease about harvesting a species at the base of the marine food web as a real, acknowledged headwind on the category’s growth going forward. Put together, both caveats sharpen the same question for the rest of the industry: who can deliver that same delivery mechanism, at a higher concentration, without either constraint attached?

Why We Built Naturmega Around Two Engines, Not One

We didn’t need this report to tell us the omega-3 category was splitting into two distinct games. It’s the reason Naturmega operates as one company with two innovation engines, rather than one undifferentiated ingredient business.

Essential Solutions is built for the game the market has always played, and will keep playing for years: better tasting formats, advanced concentrates, alternative sources, supply flexibility and technical partnership, all in service of keeping today’s leading omega-3 products competitive. Next-Generation Solutions is built for the game GOED’s data shows is now opening up alongside it: advanced lipid science, clinical science, proprietary technologies and branded ingredients, aimed at creating the premium categories that don’t exist yet. Neither engine is a hedge against the other. They’re built to run at the same time, at different speeds, for a market that is visibly doing both at once — rewarding efficiency in one lane and mechanism-driven premiums in the other.

Ruby-O®: A Designed Lipidic Architecture, Not a Fixed One

Ruby-O® sits inside our Next-Generation Solutions engine, at the center of our Advanced Lipid Science work, and it’s worth being precise about what actually distinguishes it from krill oil, because the honest answer isn’t about sourcing.

Krill’s phospholipid-bonded EPA/DHA is a fixed, naturally occurring architecture. It is whatever the organism happens to produce, and formulators build around that fixed structure. Ruby-O® starts from a different premise: a designed, engineered lipidic architecture, built through a controlled bioenzymatic process and backed by U.S. patents. The phospholipid bonding itself becomes a variable we can tune toward a given application, rather than a fixed input we simply inherit. That’s the actual innovation at the heart of Ruby-O®, not a question of where the lipid comes from, but of whether its architecture is something you design on purpose or something you’re simply given.

SupriaX2™: The Ingredient Built on That Architecture

Built on Ruby-O®, SupriaX2™ is the branded ingredient leading our entry into BeyondKrill territory. The headline number is dose: roughly 450mg of combined EPA+DHA per serving, close to two and a half times the 176mg typically delivered by krill oil, directly answering the substitution risk GOED’s own analysis flags. But the more consequential engineering decision sits underneath that number. What matters more than the milligram count is the higher proportion of EPA+DHA bonded directly to phospholipids, rather than simply more oil in the capsule. Phospholipids are the lipid form cell membranes are built from, which is why they’re regarded as among the most efficient vehicles for carrying lipids across membranes and into cells. A higher ratio of phospholipid-bonded EPA+DHA, more than the dose figure alone, is the real mechanism upgrade, and it’s the detail we’d encourage formulators to evaluate as closely as the headline claim.

SupriaX2™ is also shellfish-free, sidestepping the crustacean allergen labeling that applies to krill oil. It’s expected to launch in the second half of 2026.

The Takeaway

GOED’s 2026 report validates more than a single ingredient story. It validates the operating model behind Naturmega itself. Essential Solutions will keep meeting the market’s demand for better formats and formulation flexibility, because that demand isn’t going away. Next-Generation Solutions, through Ruby-O® and SupriaX2™, is where we’re building the designed, engineered future of omega-3 delivery that this year’s data says the market is already prepared to pay for. One company, two engines, moving at the speed the market is actually asking for — and, if this report is any indication, asking for more urgently than most of the category has priced in.
